Texas Hold’em

Your Hold’em Guide

Texas Hold’em Basics

If you are playing a traditional game of Texas Hold’Em online, you will be using a deck of 52 cards. As many as ten people can play, but the number of players allowed depends on the website where you are playing. A virtual table will appear and each player will have a place around it.

Terms:

Raise

The term “raise” refers to the amount that the bet can be raised. Some online games have limits on the raise, while others allow raises of any amount. This is known as a “no-limit” or “pot limit.”

Call

Of you “Call” another player, it simply means you are matching their bet.

Fold

If you fold, you are eliminating yourself from the round (hand) that is being played. This is done because your cards give you no chance of winning the round. After folding you must wait for the next hand before participating further in the game. Watch the round play out while waiting for the next hand.
